Wow, it is hard to believe that it is already April. I am not sure where the time goes, but it sure does go fast.
The Shadow Angel Foundation and Beau Dodson Weather have been quite busy.
We started the year off with a matching fund raiser for Guardian Family Services located in Massac County, Illinois. They are a women's and children's shelter. The foundation and Beau Dodson Weather donated $8000.00 to the shelter. The money was matched by other local charities, individuals, and organizations.
This project was quickly followed by the announcement of a complete remake of the Shadow Angel Foundation website.
You can see the new site here - Shadow Angel Foundation
Innovations Branding House built the website. IVS is located in downtown Paducah, Kentucky. They did a wonderful job on the website. We are so proud of their work.
IVS simultaneously developed a second website. The JustinCroach.com scholarship website.
Justin Croach was a friend of Beau's. As a teenager Justin fought depression and other issues. At the age of 18, Justin took his own life. Justin's family and friends were devastated by the loss.
Beau, along with the help of others, started a scholarship in Justin's memory. The scholarship is for Massac County High School students and is to be used for the arts. The arts includes music and art.
The two-thousand dollar scholarship will be given yearly to a student entering a college arts program.
New Projects
April was also the beginning of a brand new project. This project includes helping local school districts purchase much needed equipment.
A website, where teachers can post wishes, was utilized to help find the projects. The website is Donars Choose.
On Easter weekend the following projects were supported through Beau Dodson Weather and the Shadow Angel Foundation.

Maple Grove Elementary School. Metropolis, Illinois. Grades 3-5
We helped purchase tables. Cooperative learning is an essential part of the classroom environment. Most of the students assignments are completed in small group settings. They recently received tables to replace their individual desks. By doing this, they were in need of a place to store their items such as books, notebooks, workbooks, etc.
Metropolis Elementary School. Massac County, Illinois. Grades 3-5
We helped purchase ten Chromebook computers. Despite the many challenges they face, the teacher is looking to provide students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Many of the students have limited resources available to them at home. Therefore making it more important then ever to provide them with necessary tools while at school.
Fancy Farm Elementary School. Fancy Farm, Kentucky. Grades 3-5
We helped purchase 25 Dr. Seuss books. As NEA's Read Across America date approaches, their school library needed some new Dr. Seuss books. This is a special day where their school will promote reading, reading and more reading. What better way to celebrate this day of literacy promotion than by reading books written by the iconic children's author, Dr Seuss! However, over the years their library's Dr. Seuss books have been loved so well that they are were beginning to fall apart. New Dr. Seuss books will be used during their reading celebration and throughout the school year as well.

We helped purchase two Samsung Galaxy Tablets with Armorbox covers and a SanDisk Ultra Card. The students will use these tablets in small groups to enhance their learning in music class. There are so many apps and websites that can be used to supplement their learning, plus many projects that cannot be done without access to technology. Students have access to iPads, Chromebooks, and computers in their classrooms but this project will help bring the music room into the 21st century.
